Harry's Farewell Ride to the Gretna Hotel Service, Taihape - Sat 25th July

In wet conditions a small group of RE Club Riders set off from the Red Eye Cafe to Marton for coffee, then up the line to Taihape. Our bikes formed a guard of honour out front and waited for Harry's ashes to arrive on his Super Meteor ridden by his brother Neil. A very personal service with tributes from his brothers & sons, plus friends. He apparently loved Black Sabbath but a more tame 'Smoke on the Water' by Deep Purple was played during an interval. It was special catching up with his family and friends, his sons Hakka so moving and the waiata brought many moist eyes. Farwell friend, ride free in the sky with old mates!
